What is human uniqueness? This is a tricky question for the simple fact that it involves so many different factors. And then, there is the fact that the answer you might give from a personal standpoint (when asked by someone else about yourself) will differ from the one a peer or a family member might give when asked by someone else about you. Why is that? Broadly, there are two different characters within everybody: the person you think you are, meaning the way you view yourself, and the person people think you are or the way they view you. The concept of self-identity applies to the first case, while social identity applies to the second… The influence of the environment on us (called nurture, as opposed to nature) makes for our character as opposed to our temperament, with which we’re born. Humans are social creatures… The forces of the environment are complex and made up of both the physical and social worlds that surround us. Together, they constitute what is called nurture....
