Josef Soudek, 1989, 1991 ; These papers document the life and work of economist and professor, Josef Soudek (1905-1992). Soudek was born in Bodenbach an der Elbe, Bohemia (now Podmokly, Czech Republic) and immigrated to the United States in 1936 with his wife Gretel and her mother, Else Heimann. The bulk of the records consists of correspondence, primarily between Soudek, his wife, other family members and friends. There also many letters between Soudek and colleagues in relation to his work on Aristotle's Oeconomica. Soudek's writings on several key texts by Aristotle as well as other topics concerning Economics are well represented in the collection. Also included are records in regards to Soudek's work as a professor of Economics at Queens College in New York, research material, such as bibliographies, notes and drafts, his personal papers, as well as those of his wife and her family, and of the Soudek's close friends, the Zander Family
