Florentin Smarandache, a mathematician from Eastern Europe, escaped from his country because the communist authorities had prohibited the publication of his research papers and his participation in international congresses. After two years of waiting in a political refugee camp in Turkey, he emigrated to the United States. As research workers, receiving our co-worker, we decided to publish a selection of his papers.
